Notifications with KAWO
May 20, 2015 |

Even if you don’t log into KAWO everyday, we still send you an email when something important happens to your brand.

Right now you can receive an email when the following events occur:

  • A warning when your connection to Weibo is about to expire
  • Your connection to Weibo has expired
  • A post has failed to publish

How do I turn on notifications?

Go to the edit screen of the brand and scroll down to the Users section. Behind each user there is a ‘bell’ icon which can be used to turn on that brand’s notifications for that user.

Why is this important?

Notifications make sure KAWO’s connection to your Weibo account doesn’t ‘expire’. If the connection to your Weibo  account expires, KAWO can’t publish scheduled posts and collect statistics.

In an effort to beef up its security, Sina Weibo has tightened its control over the API, which is used by many apps including KAWO. This means that an app like KAWO can only have access to your Weibo account for a limited amount of time. Last year this period was 30 days long,  but recently this has changed to only 7 days. We understand having to re-connect your account every week is a real nuisance and we’re currently in discussions with the Weibo team to solve the matter.

In the meantime, KAWO will warn you in the app and through email notifications whenever a connection with Weibo will expire. Simply click the re-connect button to ‘refresh’ the connection for another 7 days.
