Sina Weibo is a Chinese microblogging website, a hybrid between Facebook and Twitter. It is also one of the most widely used social networking platforms in China. Brands use Weibo in order to announce product releases, engage with their fans and followers, and to distribute brand relevant content.
Here we take a look at different Weibo image sizes specifically for distribution on Weibo to help you properly present your visual information:
Note: All images have a maximum file size of 5MB. JPG, GIF, or PNG.
Profile Picture and Cover Image
The setting for these two is straightforward. Profile picture has a universal ratio, while custom cover image is only available as a paid feature or for official accounts.
Post Preview Image
It’s slightly more complicated for Weibo post preview images. Situations vary according to different sizes and numbers of images in the Weibo post.
Firstly, if there is only one image in a Weibo post, there are 3 scenarios (including 5 different ways ) to crop it in the preview as illustrated below.
1. Length > Width
When the length of the Weibo image is longer than its width, there are 2 scenarios where it would be cropped:
2. Length = Width
When the length and width of the image is the same, it won’t be cropped:
3. Length < Width
When the length of the Weibo image is shorter than its width, there are also 2 scenarios where it would be cropped:
Secondly, when there are multiple images in the post, all images will show in the square shape, both in the post and preview.
Note: GIF applies to the same rule, but video previews are the same sizes as they show in the posts.
Weibo Article Cover Image
Cover image for the Weibo article has a fixed preview size. However, it will not show inside the article when you are viewing it on your phone. Instead, it’ll show on the top of the article when you are accessing it on your laptop.
